workspace

January 29, 2010

i have a huge obsession with people’s workspaces. typically i find mostly artists and designers sharing theirs but i find just about anyone’s workspace very interesting for some reason. anyway, as a faithful reader of artist/musician/design wizard Scott Hansen’s (ISO50, Tycho) blog i am always pleased when he shares a little bit more of his impressive workspace and studio. recently he shared a review of his (insane) new chair from Herman Miller and after some clicking around i ended up at Herman Miller’s Lifework blog. i feel like i’m descending down some sort of vortex of workspace blogs with links to products that link back to workspace blogs so i’ve added it to my growing list of workspace related bookmarks until i have more time. but i like what i’ve seen so far. check it out.

anyhow, here’s mine. for now. i’m about to be moved to the basement. and yes, those are glow in the dark stars on the ceiling which i never bothered to remove from the previous owners.

it was hard but i tried to leave it somewhat close to how it usually looks and not over clean it for the picture. it is not entirely accurate, however, because i have had to pile just about everything i could think of up on top of my desk (yes, it’s a 100lb. commercial building door from Habitat for Humanity…with legs) because my daughter has learned to crawl/stand and is a whirlwind of destruction. my first task after my basement demotion is to make the wiring from the G5 and Mac Pro much more inaccessible. for some reason those are her favorite targets.

i’m pretty sure that after clicking on some of those links above you won’t have any questions about my humble workspace but feel free to ask if you do.

for my readers fond of burglary: i’m standing in the hall doorway, that door in the corner is a closet containing my ridiculously large gun and attack badger collection.

Ben: So you have to go to the basement....did they take your red swingline stapler as well? No more watching squirrels...? But anyway you have (had) a nice workspace there.

jssr: haha...i seriously do have a red swingline stapler that i got from my grandpa's house. no one ever moved him to the basement though!
